The Luckiest Teacher

Who Could Be Luckier Than Me?

Well, it will be hard to beat me in this category today because my granddaughter goes to my school this year. To some, that is small potatoes, but where I work (in a small rural VT school), it's huge.

Three days a week, while I am setting up my classroom, I hear that little voice say: "Hi Grammy!" When I turn around- that little lady jumps in my arms and gives me the biggest hug and kiss ever. Now that she is comfortable in the school, she asks me to walk her down the hall to her classroom. She sends daddy off for the day and we walk hand-in-hand.

As if that isn't cool enough.....At the end of her day (which is before lunch), she stops again outside my door and waits for acknowledgement. Only this time, her three cousins are in my classroom and she waits to say goodbye to all three of them AND me. We blow kisses mostly, but sometimes the cousins just can't stand it and they go and give her a hug.

So, there you have it. Life is good in small schools, and this year I am taking full advantage of the fact that: A) Grammy is still cool and she wants to hug and kiss me hello each day, and B) That I work in an environment that embraces the importance of family.

That's all I have to say about that. TGIF and Have a  Happy Day!
