In Like a Lion...

 ....Out Like a Lamb

Well, ain't that the truth! March is the month that is consistently frustrating, at least if you live in New England. I don't like this month and it continues to prove the old adage about the lion and the lamb.

So far this month our weather has included 65 degree days, 15 degree days, rain, hail, wind and now more snow. It has hit almost every season and continues to wreak havoc on the sugaring season. At school yesterday, the kids played soccer on a frozen field and today, I suspect they will be sledding again. Of course, the playground will be off limits because there is still a thick layer of ice from the recent rain and refreeze.

As for inside school goes, this masking, or rather "unmasking," of educators and students has been a wave of exhilaration for some, and more anxiety for others. When asked if I will wear a mask in school or not....I'm torn, but think I will play it by ear, and as a colleague described it....take the hybrid approach depending on the situation. When I am in my classroom, I may take it off, but when I am with larger groups of kids, I mat put it back on. If I feel great, I may keep it off, but if I feel a little under the weather, but not sick, I may put it back on. After all, I've been wearing the dang things for years now and quite frankly, do not feel like there is any weirdness in wearing one anymore. It will actually be weirder not to wear one.

On a more positive March note, next week is St. Patrick's Day (one of my favorite holidays since I'm Irish). I am looking forward to a good old fashioned corned beef dinner! That is....right after I complete my parent teacher conferences. Yippeee!

In conclusion, there is hope for this crazy month, because we are almost half way through and should expect a cute little lamb to lead the parade out of March and into April. Right? Here's to March. Cheers!
