February....

February is a long month weather you like it or not!

If you have lived your life in Vermont, or even the northeast, you know that this month is always a wacky one. It starts out by luring you with hope for lots of snow to play in. It also contains a coveted winter break for schools. Let's not forget old Punxsutawney Phil and his ability to predict that soon spring will be here....or not! Perhaps it could be described as the shortest, but most intense roller coaster month of the year. That's February for you.

Now that we are almost done with this wacky month (more like 1/2 way), it seems that teachers are just plain exhausted. We cannot wait until the break actually gets here, but once again, we are faced with things like the Monday after Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine's Day and a full moon. Seriously, we couldn't make it any harder to keep up with. And then there are the meetings.....the ones that we are trying to squeeze in since we are at the end of the month and will be out again for a little over a week. Yep, anything with a deadline for the month needs to be squeezed in. Trying to keep meetings straight or at their previously set time is another thing altogether.

O.K., so back to the weather. As I sit here with the morning news on, I am reminded about the forecast. Yep, yesterday we were freezing. Today, we are facing a warm-up and high winds (possibly). Tomorrow spring temps of 50 and then....wait for it.....back to winter for the weekend. See what I mean. It's just a roller coaster.

I can only offer you a little piece of advice: "Strap in and Hang On!" This ride will be coming to a stop in 12 days and then we can look forward to... mud season....whatever! Just have a good day and know that you are not alone.
